Launch your international career as a Scholar at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in London

27 November 2020

Are you looking to build an international career and extend your professional network beyond Sweden? Apply to our scholarship programme and join the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK for a full year in London – the world’s leading financial centre, and Europe’s business capital.

London and the UK has attracted Swedish talent for centuries, and with its vibrant atmosphere and diversity, London has a lot to offer both its residents and businesses. For many, making it in the UK is seen as the gateway to the rest of the world. This is probably one of the reasons for the 1,000+ Swedish businesses with a footprint here and the 100,000 Swedes residing in the country.

Gain international business experience in London
To launch your international career in London, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK is proud to offer talented and creative young professionals the opportunity to join the Chamber for one year and to gain international business experience through its scholarship programme - all made possible through generous scholarships grants and donations. Madeleine Hjalber, The Sten A. Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture Scholar 2019-2020, looks back at her year in London: “As a Scholar at the Chamber, you will have the opportunity to try new innovative ideas, together with the most supportive, ambitious and talented team. You will manage your own projects and build a valuable network both in Sweden and the UK.”

Long-standing tradition of engaging young talents
Throughout the years, the Chamber has been engaging young talents in its operations through its scholarship programmes. In fact, H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf himself spent several months as a Chamber trainee back in 1972. Today, many of its alumni are business leaders at large multinational corporates, senior marketing directors or founders and entrepreneurs.

Important part of the team
As a Scholar, you will be an important part of the team at the Chamber and contribute to the everyday operations of the entire organisation. “Already from day one, you are given a lot of responsibility to lead your own projects, come up with new and creative solutions as well as implementing your own ideas,” says Linnéa Lindgren, Lund University Scholar 2018-2019, about her year at the Chamber.

Department-specific duties
The Chamber seeks to recruit a Scholar for each of its four departments: Business Services, Events and Programmes, Marketing and Communications, and Membership and Community. The roles include both department-specific duties as well as supporting the wider team and its ambitions. André Viktorsson, The Sten A. Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture Scholar 2018-2019, looks back at his year as part of the Events & Programmes team: “What made me thrive at the Chamber was the great combination of freedom and support where I gained great experience from taking lead on events and projects at the same time as I always felt supported by the Chamber team.”
