The Young Professionals organise a range of events with different focus to serve the broad interest of our members. Our events are categorised as Business events or Social and Cultural events. Read more about the different event categories below to find the events that may interest you most.
The Entrepreneurship Forum is a joint forum between the YP and the SCC. The forum seeks to bring together like-minded individuals to share ideas and knowledge in an inspirational and creative setting. Representing Swedish and British entrepreneurship, the Entrepreneurship Form is the main forum for entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs of the SCC, as well as anyone with an interest in tech news and trends.
The Management Forum offers the YP members an opportunity to listen to prominent business executives from ground breaking companies. This event series provides an excellent and unique chance to learn from leading businessmen and women and benefit from their management experience and leadership skills.
The Young Professionals organise company visits exclusively for our members where SCC's member companies present their business and current industry challenges and opportunities. Previous visits have included Klarna, Saab Technologies and HSBC among others. Company visits provide a good networking opportunity where YP Members get a chance to meet top executives from a specific company and learn more about their business and industry.
SCC Mentorship Programme
In addition to the Business event series, being a member of YP also provides the opportunity to join our Mentorship Programme which gives you the chance to receive personal mentoring from an executive with extensive experience from your industry from the SCC network during the course of 9 months. By being part of the Mentorship Programme you will also be invited to join the Mentorship Programme joint gatherings where you will meet other ambitious Young Professionals and their mentors for networking and inspirational seminars.
Read more about our Mentorship Programme here.
Business Seminars & Workshops
The YP also arrange interactive seminars and workshops where Members have the opportunity to listen to renowned businessmen and women, learning more about up-to-date business topics and the UK business environment.
Social and Cultural Events
Traditional Swedish Festivities
Four times a year, the YP arrange larger events to celebrate traditional Swedish festivities with entertainment, raffles and surprises according to traditions but with a twist! The evening often continues with a visit to a selected night club in central London. This event series includes:
Crayfish Party when we enjoy crayfish accompanied with snaps, and singing 'snapsvisor' in the light of man-in-the-moon lanterns
Christmas Dinner Party with traditional Swedish smorgasbord to celebrate the beloved Christmas holiday and warm you up during cold December with love and glögg (Swedish style mulled wine)
Spring Party to celebrate the arrival of spring
Midsummer Celebration when we dance like frogs to celebrate the longest night of the year
During the event season YP recurrently arranges the popular 'Cocktail Club'. An event series with exclusive access to various popular clubs in London. This is a unique opportunity to socialise with like-minded peers and extend one’s social and professional network over a few fancy drinks. Thereafter there is always the possibility to stay at the club until the early hours.
Get the chance to get to know British culture through a social gathering at a typical British Pub. Upon arrival, the guests are divided into teams, and faced with tricky questions demanding both Swedish and British general knowledge, which are then solved over some refreshments. These events are perfect for learning more about the UK and British culture, and meeting new people over a pint or two.
Out of Office After Work is a Swedish straight-from-work-party that gives you a full-blown clubbing experience to kick-start your weekend! Held once a month, Young Professionals has partnered with OOOAW to make sure our members can work hard AND play hard.
...to the specific social events categories, we also host beverage tastings (which has included wine and gin in the past), come-for-a-drink-as-you-are events, and other social occasions for YP members to meet old and new YP friends and explore some of what London has to offer.
