Business Culture Foundation Course: Making sense of Britain 

The SCC Business Culture Foundation Course gives insight into UK business culture and provides attendees with the tools necessary to understand and excel in their British work place environment.

This half day foundation course will prepare attendees for their career in the UK and enable them to discover ways of working more efficiently within the management structure of their new company.The course will cover cultural nuances in leadership and management approaches, how to safely navigate the differences in workplace behaviours, as well as exploring differences in negotiation practices, sales techniques and communications. Attendees will also be given a crash course into British culture, an introduction to Employment, Commercial and Tax law, and receive practical tips and advice on their journey from those who have already successfully established themselves in the UK.

This course is for professionals who have recently relocated (or are in the process of relocating) and want to land on their feet, prepared for a career in the UK.

AGENDA:

Session 1: LEADERSHIP
How to manage your UK/International team including management approaches, workplace behaviours and how to create a winning team of individuals. Workplace behaviour: what is acceptable, expected etc.
Session 2: SALES AND CUSTOMER
Negotiation skills, marketplace & opportunity. Overview of the perception of the British customer and their expectations, as opposed to their Nordic counterparts.
Session 3: LEGAL 
Basic Business & Employment and Tax Law. An introduction to UK employment Law : understanding the framework of what employers in the UK can expect from employees, what employers can ask employees to do, and employees’ rights at work. Contracts and basic commercial law: Being aware of and understand the risks in entering into contracts.
Session 4: THE PRACTICAL 
Things I wish I knew before I moved to the UK and practical life differences. 
Session 5: THE CULTURAL 
An introduction to British culture, history and mindset.
Session 6: COMMUNICATIONS 
Internal and external communications differences and personal branding.
