The Swedish School in London is a friendly and non-selective independent school located in Barnes (age 3-15) and Kew (age 16-19). We follow the Swedish curriculum and offer education from preschool to the sixth form. The school has been ranked Outstanding in four consecutive inspections by Ofsted, the last inspection was in June 2023.

The role of a school governor

We are looking for three new governors to support the Swedish School in London. The governing body is responsible for the strategic management of the school and work closely with school management to make sure our students get the best possible education. 

Becoming a governor is an excellent form of volunteering and can be a really rewarding and stimulating experience. The time involvement will approximately 5 hours per month. The position as a school governor is unpaid. 

Who are we looking for?

We welcome governors from a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experience to join our team. You must be over 18, but you don’t need to be a parent or have experience working in education. Professional experience in areas such as fundraising, communication and marketing are all useful to the school. 

All governors are DBS checked and the school will also do an online search and section 128 check on any applying candidates. This document outlines reasons for being disqualified as a charity governor.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check in the UK and register check from any other country you’ve lived and worked in.
