Mentorship Programme - for next generation leaders

The Mentorship Programme for the next generation of leaders offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to benefit from a unique twelve-month programme of group workshops and individual mentoring by experienced and successful senior industry professionals from across the Swedish-British business community.

Contents of the programme

This twelve months programme connects young and ambitious talents with experienced international business professionals from across all fields and sectors. The mentors are all experts in their fields, and have international business experience.

The programme includes a series of four joint group workshops and seminars, facilitated by the course director, and involving both mentors and mentees. In addition, mentors and mentees meet for one-to-one mentoring sessions over the course of the year, whether it’s face to face, over Skype or phone. The programme is open to London based mentee applicants, ideally a couple of years into their career. Members of the SCC’s Young Professionals are prioritised.

Birgitta Albåge Gough-Cooper

Birgitta Albåge Gough-Cooper

Director, Head of Operations, Lazard

Birgitta Albåge Gough-Cooper joined Lazard, the independent financial advisory firm, in 1996 and is since 2009 part of the Lazard London senior management team performing a COO type role with responsibility for the operational side of the business. Prior to 2009, Birgitta was a Director within the Financial Institutions Group in London and led the advisory team on a number of assignments in Banking, Insurance and other FIG sub-sectors. Before joining Lazard she worked for Enskilda Securities, the Corporate Finance division of SEB, in both Stockholm and London.

Kevin Connors

Kevin Connors

General Manager, Nordea

A long international commercial banking business development and relationship management career, of which the last 32 years in Nordea Bank and its predecessor banks, including 13 years overseas (8 years in Singapore Branch, 5 years in Stockholm Office), and 10 years working for Helsinki head office (based remotely in London). The career to date has involved extensive experience in originating, structuring, negotiating and documenting international commercial banking transactions in developed and emerging markets, as well as management roles in the Singapore Branch, Stockholm Head Office and since 2016 as the General Manager of the London Branch.

Executive Business Development Director, Oncology, AstraZeneca

Astrid Maria Dahl is Executive Business Development Director, Scientific Partnering & Alliances – Oncology at AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical company operating in more than 100 countries worldwide. In this role she is responsible for global licensing and partnering with regards to oncology assets in early clinical development and research. Maria has a dual technical and business background and more than fifteen years of experience in the US and UK biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, primarily in the areas of business development and portfolio management.

Tracey Davidson

Tracey Davidson

CEO, Handelsbanken Wealth Management

Tracey Davidson started her career at Barclays where she worked across the UK latterly in a variety of senior positions within the corporate and wealth management divisions. Tracey joined Handelsbanken in 2003 and accelerated her career quickly becoming Senior Vice President and Head of Northern UK in 2010 where she was also a member of Handelsbanken Group management. During this time Tracey was entrusted to lead an acquisition team to identify and acquire an investment and wealth management business in order to meet the demands of its UK customers. After the successful acquisition of Heartwood Wealth Management Tracey was appointed CEO in 2014.

Chairman and CEO, Time Partners

Mark Florman was previously the founder of the merchant banking group Maizels Westerberg and has since founded a number of businesses in the technology, advisory, financial services and investment sectors. He was Managing Director of the private equity firm Doughty Hanson, Chair of LM Glasfiber (the global renewable energy group) and started the African venture capital firm 8 Miles LLP with Bob Geldof. He co-founded the Centre for Social Justice, the Early Intervention Foundation and B Labs (UK).

Jenny Gardner

Jenny Gardner

Project Director UK, Innovation Centre, SAAB

Jenny Gardner has had the role as Project Director UK Innovation Centre for Saab since 2017. Her role includes collaborating with academia, industry and government to boost research and development for Saab and its clients. She is Deputy Chair of UKNEST, a forum that promotes Engineering, Science and Technology interests of the UK Naval Defence, a Board Member of DARTeC (Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre) at Cranfield University and a Member of ADS Defence R&T Forum.

Luke Griffiths

Vice President and General Manager, Klarna UK

Luke Griffiths is Vice President and General Manager at Klarna UK. Having joined the company in 2016 he previously held a number of senior marketing positions at major global online retailer eBay. With a solid background in developing high-performing and engaging commercial campaigns across global territories, Luke has been a key driver in Klarna’s recent success both in the UK and globally.

Tomas Gärdefors

Partner, Norton Rose Fullbright

Tomas Gärdfors is a banking lawyer based in London. The core of Tomas’ broad practice is European cross-border energy infrastructure transactions, including transmission assets, portfolios and projects of common interest. Tomas is the Firm’s authority on the European Union’s programmes for supporting energy infrastructure projects, Projects of Common Interest and EFSI. He is the author of the firm’s PCI and EU energy infrastructure related campaigns and is the Firm’s Head of Nordic.

Richard Hildebrand

Richard Hildebrand specialises in all aspects of corporate work and in particular UK corporate finance transactions and UK and International mergers and acquisitions (both public and private). He is also experienced in other areas of corporate work including joint ventures, commercial contracts and general company advice. Richard has been particularly active in the Alternative Investment Market advising new entrants, listed companies and nominated advisers/brokers on a wide range of transactions across a variety of industry sectors.

Maj-Britt Krejcir

CFO, SEB London

Maj-Britt Krejcir is the CFO and Deputy UK Country Head of SEB in the UK, a role that includes direct responsibility for all staff and support functions. She has over twenty years of experience from the financial industry in various positions. Before taking the current role she was the Deputy CFO and Head of Business Control for the LC&FI division of SEB, a position she held since 2006.

Managing Director and CMO, MDC-Partners Europe and APAC

Lotta Malm Hallqvist joined MDC Partners in 2016 as its first European Chief Marketing Officer, a role designed to amplify growth and drive collaboration opportunities for MDC’s global agency network. Lotta is also tasked with accelerating agency collaboration opportunities and helping navigate the unique needs of MDC’s growing group of agency partners in Europe, including 72andSunny, Allison+Partners, Anomaly, Concentric, CP+B, Doner, Forsman & Bodenfors, Hunter PR, KBS Albion, Kwittken, Northstar, Redscout, The Media Kitchen and Varick Media Management.

Chris Philipsborn

Chris Philipsborn is Managing Partner, Kreab London and Chairman of the European Government Business Relations Council (Ad Hoc Council). A graduate of the LSE and former journalist, Chris has broadcast and written for many media outlets including The Financial Times, The Economist and BBC World Service. Chris is a former Head of European Corporate Affairs at BT Group and has served on three management boards, including Sellafield ltd, Europe’s largest nuclear site, and The Salzburg Global Seminar, a foreign policy think tank.

H.E. Mr Torbjörn Sohlström.

Embassy of Sweden

H.E. Torbjörn Sohlström is the Swedish Ambassador to the UK. The Ambassador initially worked in journalism before joining the Swedish Foreign Service. He has worked for the EU at the EU Council Secretariat in Brussels and has had senior postings in Skopje and Pristina, including working as Personal Representative of Javier Solana. He then returned from the EU to the Swedish Foreign Service as Deputy Head of the Mission in Russia, and has held senior positions in Sweden as Deputy Director General and Head of the Minister’s Office, followed by Director General for Political Affairs.
