About the speakers
Caroline Falconer, Secretary General of the SCC Arbitration Institute
Caroline Falconer serves as the Secretary General of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute. She holds a Swedish LL.M. from Stockholm University and an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution from King's College, London. With over a decade of experience in dispute resolution within Swedish law firms, Caroline has also worked at the Stockholm District Court and served as Senior Legal Counsel for a prominent European energy company. Additionally, she chaired the board of the Swedish Corporate Lawyers’ Association and frequently speaks at legal events internationally.
Eva Kalnina, Independent Arbitrator, Arbitration Chambers
Eva Kalnina is an independent arbitrator at Arbitration Chambers in London, specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration. She has served as arbitrator and counsel in over 60 international arbitrations across diverse industries. As a Member of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Board and the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators, Eva has particular expertise in Eastern European disputes. Fluent in several languages, including Latvian and Russian, she has chaired multi-billion CIS arbitrations and acted as lead counsel in significant shareholder disputes. Prior to her current role, she was a partner at the boutique arbitration law firm Lévy Kaufmann-Kohler in Geneva.
Andrea Menaker, Partner, White & Case LLP
Andrea Menaker is a Partner at White & Case LLP, where she heads the Firm’s Public International Law Group and investment arbitration practice in London. Ms. Menaker represents investors and States in ground-breaking cases and advises on arbitral award recognition and enforcement proceedings worldwide. She additionally has served as an expert witness on investor-State issues, was a member of the SCC’s Board of Directors between 2015 and 2020, currently serves as an Executive Committee Member of the SAA, and has served on numerous other boards and committees of organizations devoted to the advancement and / or administration of international arbitration, including ASIL, HKIAC, ASA and ICCA. Prior to joining White & Case, Ms. Menaker was Chief of the NAFTA Arbitration Division for the US State Department, where she was lead counsel for the US in arbitrations under the NAFTA’s investment chapter and participated in the drafting of investment and dispute resolution provisions in BITs and FTAs, as well as NAFTA interpretations and guidelines.
Jennifer Younan, Partner, A&O Shearman
Jennifer Younan is a partner in the International Arbitration practice of A&O Shearman. She has over 20 years’ experience advising and representing companies, State-owned entities and States in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, having notably participated in several of the largest international disputes submitted to arbitration. Jennifer is consistently recognised at the top of her field, ranking as a Global Market Leader in Chambers & Partners, a Leading Lawyer in The Legal 500 and a Global Leader and Thought Leader (France) in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration. She currently represents Ukraine in an SCC arbitration initiated by VEB.RF (the Russian State Development Agency).
