Brexit will remain a hot topic this year and the SCC will continue to keep you informed on the topic.

Join us for a Brexit Forum where we will discuss how the UK’s decision to leave the EU will affect businesses. The Forum will consist of two expert panel discussions and we will hear from both the Remain and Leave camps, as well as concluding remarks from the Swedish Ambassador.

The aim of the event is to explore the positive effects and opportunities that Brexit can present to businesses.

Among the confirmed speakers:

H.E. Torbjörn Sohlström, Swedish Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Gerard Lyons is a British Economist and writer. He is an expert on the world economy and is co-founder of “Economists for Brexit”. From 2013 to 2016 he was the Chief Economic Advisor to the Mayor of London and he played a leading role in the UK European Union Referendum.

Lord Purvis of Tweed joined the House of Lords in 2013 as a life peer and was appointed the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on International Trade to the House In 2016.

Claes Jacobsson serves as the President and Managing Director at Scania (GB) Ltd since 2013. Leading up to the 2016 referendum, Jacobsson gave the SCC his insights on potential consequences Brexit could have for the future of the EU as well as Anglo-Swedish business relations.

Hans Norén has been the Managing Director of Stena Line UK since 2014. Norén has given evidence to the Welsh Affairs Committee as part of its inquiry into the implications of the EU referendum results on how Brexit might affect Welsh ports.

Sir Mark Boleat currently holds the positions as Deputy Chairman of the City of London Policy and Resources Committee, Chairman of Link Scheme Ltd, and Chairman of the Housing and Finance Institute. Previously, he has been working towards ensuring the City remains a global financial centre after Brexit as the City of London Corporation's policy chairman.

Magnus Lewis-Olsson is the President of Market Area Europe, Middle East & Africa at Saab Group. After having spent ten years as a fighter pilot for the Swedish Air Force, Lewis-Olsson hung up his uniform in 1999 to pursue a career as a test pilot for SAAB. Since then he has worked for the company in Sweden and as President for their South Africa operations before taking up his current position in London.

The event will be moderated by Maria Borelius, Advisor to global companies and science institutions; Member of the board of Open Europe, a think tank devoted to European issues; columnist for Dagens Industri, the largest Nordic financial daily.
