Dear Members of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK

We are delighted to announce that in 2016, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 110th anniversary.

It began in June 1906, when a group of prominent Swedish and British businessmen came together, looking to create a forum for the Swedish business community in London. Six months later, a committee was set up and guidelines for a Chamber of Commerce were circulated to all Swedes in London. A budget of £600 was accepted and £20 guaranteed by each businessman to secure the running of the Chamber for its first year. The membership fee for the first year was £2.00.

This became the starting point for the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK with founding Members LM Ericsson and Stockholms Enskilda Bank amongst other prominent Swedish companies. 110 years later, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK has grown from being one of the first 10 foreign chambers in the UK to also become one of the largest and the most active.

In 2016, the Chamber prides itself on having given support to an ever growing business network and having provided information and added-value services to our Members for over a century. With Members such as AstraZeneca, H&M, SEB, IKEA, Ericsson and Skanska, the Chamber is proud to have a broad and diverse network that stretches over near 50 different industries.

Today, the Chamber has around 400 member companies, representing not only Swedish companies but also British and International companies interested in strengthening their existing ties with Sweden and the UK or expanding to new markets.

On the 14 September 2016, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK will celebrate its ever growing business network and strengthening of the Anglo-Swedish business community, with an exclusive and glamorous evening reception at the new Tate Modern with Investor AB Chairman Jacob Wallenberg as guest speaker, an award ceremony and first class entertainment.

We wish to invite all of the Chamber’s Members to take part in the celebrations as well as to use the Chamber’s 110th anniversary to benefit your companies by promoting your business, products and services for six months of exclusive brand exposure.
