The SCC is a great organisation for promoting Anglo-Swedish relationships and interests. The people working for the Chamber are very energetic and entrepreneurial which I think are the characteristics of Swedes in the UK. - Johan Aurén, Aurén & Co Ltd

Sweden to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest

[2012-05-28]  Sweden's Loreen clinched the top spot at this year's Eurovision Song Contest held in Baku, Azerbaijan. With an incredible score of 372 points, the dance hit ‘Euphoria’ was a knock out.

The former Swedish Idol contestant Loreen, was one of the favourite contenders for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Her hit ‘Euphoria’ had already topped the charts in four countries before she reached the final stage of the competition. With 18 countries awarding her the maximum allowable 12 points, it was clear that Loreen would return the Eurovision crown to Sweden for the first time since 1999 when Charlotte Nilsson won the title. Russia came in second place, followed by Serbia in third. Loreen's victory awards Sweden with its fifth Eurovision title. As the winner, Sweden will host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The location is still undecided, but at the moment three cities; Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö are fighting for the spot.
