Meet Klas Eklund, Senior Chief Economist, SEB

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce invites you to a special breakfast seminar with Klas Eklund; Senior Economist at SEB, Adjunct professor of Economics at the University of Lund and member of the Government’s Commission for the Future.

The West is facing a drawn-out hangover after the financial crisis. Deleveraging of debt will take years, and on the European continent a half-built currency union needs to be rebuilt - or burst. Austerity and political leadership is necessary in many countries - but is it viable? Meanwhile, China faces tremendous challenges and a new generation of leaders prepares to take over. How will the Chinese challenge play out? How can - and should the West answer that challenge?

Klas Eklund will address the challenges faced by the current economic climate and provide a unique perspective on what the future holds. Mr Eklund is a well renowned Swedish economist and writer, and is a licentiate of economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. He has held a number of positions which include, amongst others, deputy under-secretary of state at the Swedish Ministry of Finance and Chief Economist at SEB. He is the author of numerous eminent books and articles, including the best-selling economics textbook in Sweden, a recent book on China's development, as well as a financial thriller about murder and insider trading in the Ministry of Finance.
