IK Investment Partners
IK Investment Partners, or simply IK, is a European private equity firm with Nordic roots, managing €5.7 billion, including €1.7 billion in the latest fund IK2007.
The company works out of offices in Hamburg, London, Paris and Stockholm and has six dedicated investment teams covering the Benelux countries, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany/CEE, Norway and Sweden.
In 2008 the company changed names from Industri Kapital to IK Investment Partners. Industri Kapital’s origins lie in Enskilda Ventures Ltd, which in 1989 sponsored Björn Savén in raising the Scandinavian Acquisition Capital Fund (SAC) and established the London office. SAC closed with approximately €108 million in commitments mainly from Scandinavian investors. SAC was renamed the Industri Kapital 1989 Fund (IK1989) in connection with a buyout in 1993.
Since inception in 1989 IK has raised six funds whereas four are active today. IK has acquired 69 European companies and the current portfolio encompassed 19 companies with a total turnover close to €7 billion. IK invests mainly in mid-sized companies with strong cash flow and profit improvement potential, operating in mature industries with fundamental underlying growth.
Björn Savén was Chief Executive from the start until June 2008. Today he is IK’s Executive Chairman. He is also the Chairman of the British-Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Stockholm.
